Rio Ferdinand has urged Arsenal to go ‘all out’ and sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, a player compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

There’s absolutely no movement at Arsenal even though we’re 16 days into the January transfer window. A move for a new striker seems more likely in the summer now, and Isak has been linked. Ferdinand thinks Mikel Arteta should go and get him.

Rio Ferdinand urges Arsenal to sign Alexander Isak

Arsenal need a new striker as soon as possible.

Gabriel Jesus is one of the best in the business in what he does but he’s not a prolific goalscorer. Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard are both decent backup options too, but they don’t find the net often either.

Arsenal should really consider bringing in a top-quality number nine, and Newcastle United star Alexander Isak has been linked with a move to the Emirates.

The Gunners have had an eye on Isak since his Real Sociedad days. We were rumoured to be interested in signing him back then, but no move materialised.

Newcastle snapped him up for £63 million 18 months ago, and he has been brilliant for them. Now, Rio Ferdinand has urged Arsenal to sign him.

He said on his podcast: “Isak, by the way, if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out.

“I’m going and buying him!”

He is the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Alexander Isak is a fantastic football, and we all know how he has been compared to Thierry Henry already.

The legendary Frenchman isn’t the only elite striker Isak has been likened to – he was once dubbed the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well.

Back when he was just 17, Isak scored a brace for AIK in the Stockholm derby against Djurgarden. He was phenomenal in that game, and that was the day he was compared to his great compatriot.

His teammate Chinedu Obasi said at the time: “Isak has enormous potential. If everything goes well, he could become Sweden’s new Zlatan Ibrahimovic.”
