Robert Pires now claims Kylian Mbappe should join Premier League side, it’s not Arsenal

Arsenal were listed as a possible surprise destination for French superstar Kylian Mbappe, but he is close to agreeing a move to Real Madrid.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacker is arguably the best player in the world, and with his contract set to expire, it now appears that a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is on the cards.

However, Arsenal legend Robert Pires has now urged Mbappe to reconsider his move, and instead consider his other options.

Pires, like Mbappe, won the World Cup with France, lifting the trophy in 1998, and he was a highly sought-after star when Arsene Wenger brought him to the Emirates in 2000.

The winger went on to become one of Arsenal’s greatest-ever players, and established himself as a legend as part of the Invincibles side, but has now made a surprising claim about Mbappe.

Arsenal legend Robert Pires urges Kylian Mbappe to choose Premier League

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, Pires claimed that Mbappe should consider a move to Premier League giants Liverpool over Real Madrid.

“I’m sorry, Kylian, but you weren’t the first player to say no to Real Madrid. I don’t know what decision he will make in the end,” he stated.

“I would like to see him at Liverpool. It’s a great family club, there’s a good structure, no pressure, the fans are level-headed.”

“I think a Salah-Mbappé partnership could be really explosive. I think he is capable of rejecting Real Madrid.”

Liverpool are historical, as well as current rivals with Arsenal on the pitch, and whilst there is far less animosity between the two clubs as there is with others, Pires has essentially urged one of the best players in the world to join a title rival.

Arsenal and Liverpool were both recently named as the two clubs in England that Mbappe would be most likely to join if given the chance, and Pires has surprisingly endorsed Liverpool over his former side.

It is questionable whether a move for Mbappe would be good for either side given his wages, and his status as a global superstar who could prove difficult to manage, but whoever he joins will be landing one of the best goalscorers on the planet, and at the moment that appears to be Real Madrid.

Arsenal are keen on signing a striker, and whilst this may not be Mbappe, Mikel Arteta will hope to reinforce his attack with some serious quality.
