Arsenal and Manchester City are not just big rivals on the pitch but also in the transfer market.

Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola went toe-to-toe in the Premier League title race in each of the last two seasons. City came out on top on both occasions, but Arsenal really pushed them.

Neither side is leading the race to become champions now, but they are both on the market looking for reinforcements.

Manchester City are far busier at the moment, and they could get a deal done for a couple of Arsenal’s transfer targets.

Arsenal are ‘fearful’ that Manchester City will sign Hugo Larsson

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Hugo Larsson for a few months now.

The Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder has made a tremendous name for himself in the Bundesliga. He has become a regular there despite only being 20 years old.

Arsenal will need a new midfielder next season as both Thomas Partey and Jorginho could leave the club at the end of their contracts this summer.

Larsson ticks a lot of boxes, but Arsenal are not the only team in the race to sign him – Manchester City really like him and are keen to land him too.

GiveMeSport now claim that ‘influential figures at Arsenal are fearful’ that City will leave them frustrated by beating the Gunners in the race for Larsson’s signature.

The report adds that both Arsenal and City have ‘acknowledged’ that a deal this month is difficult. But, they are willing to wait until the summer in order to sign him.

Reports previously claimed that Arsenal were ready to bid £33 million to sign Larsson. It remains to be seen if that will be enough.

Manchester City are about to sign another Arsenal target

The Larsson saga will likely go on until the summer, so there’s no real need for Arsenal to panic now.

However, Guardiola’s side are on the verge of signing another player who Arteta was really keen to bring to Arsenal – Omar Marmoush.

GMS claim that Arteta was ‘tempted to make a move for the prolific Egyptian’, who has directly contributed to 30 goals already this season.

However, City are leading the race to sign Marmoush and all signs point towards the striker moving to the Etihad in the coming days.

Arsenal now have to respond with a signing of their own, but unfortunately for the fans, no player appears to be close to moving to the Emirates.
