Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both been heavily linked with a move to sign Sandro Tonali this summer.

The Gunners were first linked with a move to sign him on transfer deadline day in January after Mikel Merino suffered a near-season-ending injury.

Tottenham’s interest in Tonali is serious and emerged just a few weeks ago. Roberto De Zerbi is a big fan and is really keen to sign him.

But what does the player want?

🤔 Which midfield target should Andrea Berta prioritise at Arsenal this summer?

Sandro Tonali will pick Arsenal over Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal are on another level compared to Tottenham.

The Gunners won the Premier League and made it into the final of the Champions League last season, while Spurs narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the campaign.

It’s only natural that a top player would prefer joining the reigning champions over a side that finished 17th two seasons in a row.

That’s perhaps why Newcastle think Arsenal are the favourites to sign Tonali over Spurs, and the player has the same stance.

Sportsboom claim that even though the midfielder really admires De Zerbi, Arsenal are the club he is thinking about.

The report claims that Tonali has huge respect for Mikel Arteta, and if both Arsenal and Tottenham strike a deal with Newcastle, he would pick the English champions.

Tottenham will be feeling a sense of déjà vu about Arsenal

Tottenham fans already dislike Arsenal because of the rivalry in North London, but they must also be sick of players preferring the Gunners.

Eberechi Eze looked like he was on his way to Spurs last summer. A deal was practically done, and Spurs fans were celebrating already.

Then, Arsenal came in, struck a deal, and brought Eze to the Emirates Stadium all in a matter of a few hours.

Tottenham must be feeling a sense of déjà vu with Tonali keen on a move to Arsenal. We won’t be surprised at all if the Italian ends up moving to the red side of North London.
