Arsenal make well take the opportunity to boost their squad in the upcoming January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu Gaspar will already be considering moves that they can make in the next transfer window to take Arsenal to the next level.

The Gunners were able to strengthen in the recent summer market, as Mikel Merino, Riccardo Calafiori, Raheem Sterling, and Neto all arrived at the Emirates Stadium.

However, despite having been linked with many strikers over the course of the off-season, Arteta did not ultimately add a new goalscorer to his ranks.

As Eddie Nketiah left Arsenal, the Gunners are in fact now arguably weaker in that part of the pitch than they were last season.

Arsenal fans told not to expect striker signing in January

Despite the fact that there is still an argument that the Gunners could use another option to lead the line, it is unlikely that bringing in such a player will be a priority in January.

Were Arteta to move for a striker, then Arsenal may explore a move for Victor Osimhen, having been credited with an interest in him throughout the summer.

However, journalist Charles Watts, writing in his Daily Briefing, has now revealed why Arsenal are unlikely to pursue the forward who is currently plying his trade on loan for Galatasaray.

He said: “I would be surprised if they go for him in January. I think, if and when they do go for another striker, it might be a slightly different profile to the Nigeria international.

“And anyway, right now they are very happy with what Kai Havertz is offering them as the central striker.”

Do Arsenal need more than Kai Havertz?

Arsenal have every reason to be pleased with what Kai Havertz is providing, and the German has started the new campaign in fine form.

However, looking beyond the former Chelsea man, it is clear why Arsenal fans may be concerned about the lack of depth in this part of the pitch.

Gabriel Jesus has struggled for fitness and form for an extended period, and Leandro Trossard is preferred on the flanks, rather than in a central role.

In this context, and should an injury befall Havertz, then the Gunners would quickly come to realise that bringing in another option to lead the line ought to be a top priority.
