Victor Osimhen to Arsenal transfer latest

Arsenal have been handed a potential boost in the transfer saga surrounding Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a switch for the Nigerian international, who could be set for an exit from Italy in the coming days of the transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make a move, but they have been handed a boost following a statement from the forward’s agent.

Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, recently took to social media to deny links to Saudi Arabia, stating that his client’s future is in Europe.

“Osimhen is a Napoli player,” he stated. “With a contract recently renewed with mutual satisfaction.

“He made history and when there were major offers (also this year) we always accepted the club’s decisions.

“As I said, it is not a package to be shipped far away to make room for new prophets.

“Victor was elected African footballer of the year, eighth at the Ballon d’Or, he still has so much to do in Europe. There is a need for respect and balance.”

Eddie Nketiah transfer exit

As Arsenal enter the final week of the transfer market, there are still some potential deals coming in and out of the club.

One who seems certain to make an exit is Eddie Nketiah, who has been linked with a move throughout the window.

It appeared as though a move to Nottingham Forest was on the cards, though that recently fell through with the East Midlands outfit looking elsewhere for a striker option.

That has, however, left the door open for other teams to be able to make a move.

One of those is Crystal Palace, as David Ornstein reports that Arsenal are expected to accept a deal from the Eagles for Nketiah.

The deal will be worth up to £30million – an initial £25million plus £5million in add-ons – which will seemingly seal an exit.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will look for a replacement in the final days of the transfer window.

Gary Lineker verdict on David Raya

Gary Lineker has heaped praise on Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya following his performance against Aston Villa over the weekend.

The Spaniard pulled off some huge saves, not least one to deny Ollie Watkins, which helped the Gunners earn three huge points.

It continues an ideal start to the Premier League season against a team who have often had their number in the past.

Discussing Raya’s save in particular, Lineker said on The Rest is Football podcast: “Arteta is clearly not frightened of making big decisions.

“This time last year, we were going, ‘Why is he bringing in David Raya?’

“But, you have to say, he looks one hell of a goalkeeper. He made a sensational save last week… And he did the same – I know Ollie Watkins should’ve scored with the header after it bounced back off the bar – but how quickly did he get up off the ground to make that save?

“I mean, it was absolutely world-class.”
