Tottenham star’s comments on Arsenal transfer targets Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak will impress Mikel Arteta

Arsenal continue to be linked with a transfer for a striker in the coming transfer windows, with Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres both rumoured with a switch.

It comes as Mikel Arteta has struggled to find that goalscoring edge in the forward line with the Gunners, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus his usual centre-forward options.

The Arsenal boss will be looking to get his team over the line when it comes to the Premier League title battle, though that may only be possible with a new striker coming through.

Fortunately for the scouts at the Emirates Stadium two of their targets – Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak – play for the same national team and have been impressing on international duty.

So much so that one Tottenham star has heaped praise on the pair that explains exactly why Arsenal should sign them.

Dejan Kulusevski praises Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres

There’s something of a new golden generation currently unfurling in Sweden as a mix of superstars all come together in a promising team.

Heading the frontline are Isak and Gyokeres, two of the most impressive strikers in Europe during a time where centre-forwards are becoming tougher to find.

Behind them is Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski, who himself is an impressive operator on the wing or in the number ten position.

Following the side’s win over Slovakia in Nations League action – which earned them promotion to the B groups – the Spurs star heaped plenty of praise on his strike partners.

He told Aftonbladet: “It’s great fun, they [Isak and Gyokeres] can come up with things on their own. It will be incredibly fun in the future and get to face the best national teams in the world and hurt them.”

Not only should it serve as a warning to those other nations but it can also serve as a clear message to Arteta.

With both Isak and Gyokeres able to create things on their own, there’s not just a goal-scoring centre-forward available there, but one that can forge their own opportunities.

The question is though, which of the two would be better? Simply as it seems unlikely both would sign and start in the same position.

Who is better out of Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak?

There are plenty of debates to be had out of which player should be signed in the Isak and Gyokeres discussion.

Starting with the differences, Isak has Premier League experience so there is a level of performance that can be expected of him.

Combine that with the goals he has already scored in the division and there are a few more guarantees over his ability.

There are some concerns over his fitness, given that the Newcastle star has struggled with injuries in recent seasons.

Whereas Gyokeres has only faced one major injury at the back end of last season and is fighting fit once again.

For Sporting CP, the striker is one of the in-form scorers in Europe, having continually found the back of the net time after time.

The problems for Gyokeres come in that there is less guarantee over his level in the Premier League and how his scoring in Portugal may scale.

Regardless of the decision, a signing of such magnitude will be a risk for Arsenal, who may have to choose carefully over their next striker.
