West Ham United may now be tempted to rekindle their interest in signing Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson this summer for one reason.
Arsenal are currently working towards moving on a number of players.
Emile Smith Rowe is on the verge of joining Fulham. Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah is closing in on a switch to Marseille.
On top of that, there are doubts about the future of Reiss Nelson at the Emirates Stadium. The Hale End academy graduate clearly isn’t in Mikel Arteta’s plans, as he was only afforded one Premier League start last season.
At this stage in his career, the 24-year-old winger needs to be playing regular football and will not get the opportunity to do so in North London.
West Ham recently showed an interest in signing Nelson this summer, and a move to the London Stadium would make a lot sense for the attacker. He would be able remain in the capital city, and will back himself to establish himself as a key player for the Hammers.
However, when West Ham turned their attention toward signing Crysencio Summerville it seemed that their interest in Nelson had waned.

West Ham may revive interest in Reiss Nelson
However, as reported by talkSPORT, West Ham’s “frustration” over being denied in their efforts to sign the Leeds United winger for £20 million now has them on the verge of pulling the plug on the deal altogether.
If West Ham give up on signing Summerville, then they may come back to the table for Nelson.
If the Gunners do move Nelson on this summer, then Arteta will need to replace the former England under-21 international.
Arsenal in the market for a winger
Regardless of Nelson’s future, Arsenal need a player Arteta has faith in to provide back up and competition for Bukayo Saka. Last season, the 22-year-old was required to start week in, week out and was rarely ever substituted off.
Arteta needs to be able to afford Saka a rest at times, and the England star also needs to feel that he has to fight for his starting berth.
Due to this, Arsenal must keep pushing to sign Nico Williams this summer. The Gunners are still in the race to secure the Spanish winger’s services, but as things stand he is more likely to join Barcelona.
Signing Williams would represent a real statement of intent, too. Not only would he provide meaningful competition for Saka, but he is also capable of playing on either flank, meaning that he would challenge the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for game time too.
