What Arsenal are saying about one striker transfer target should excite fans as links rumble on

It’s abundantly clear that Mikel Arteta needs to sign an attacker at Arsenal this winter, with an update on one target coming to light.

The Gunners’ struggles going forward have been highlighted in recent weeks amid Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury.

Just how important the winger is to how Arteta’s squad play has been emphasised in his absence, with Arsenal so often failing to deliver going forward.

Most recently, Arsenal’s weaknesses in the final third were exposed against Newcastle United, as the hosts failed to score from 23 attempts on goal.

Arsenal scout report on transfer target Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal have been linked to several players this month however, there’s not been a breakthrough regarding any possible moves.

Pressure is mounting on Arteta, who must work with those above him to ensure the attack is bolstered in the winter market.

In an update on Arsenal’s transfer targets, the Daily Mail shared an insight into Gunners target Benjamin Sesko

While the Slovenian was eyed in the summer, it’s now become clear just how highly Arsenal thought of the RB Leipzig striker, who already has 11 goals this season.

The Mail shared the results of the club’s scouting report on Sesko, revealing that the striker ‘certainly fit the profile’ wanted by Arteta.

Being a player with a high ceiling, Arsenal’s recruitment staff see the youngster’s ‘fluid movement and physical attributes’ as big pluses.

While scouting the player, it became well-known that Arsenal were admirers of the forward, as Sesko’s representatives were invited to the Emirates amid interest.

Sesko is a ready-made target for Arsenal

The Slovenia international was not signed despite Arsenal being ‘ready to move’ for the player, due to the fact that Kai Havertz’s form might not guarantee a starting spot for the star.

Sesko remained in Germany and continues to light up the Bundesliga but, to the relief of fans, Arsenal’s interest has not disappeared.

A transfer for Sesko in January is unlikely, as Leipzig are understandably not keen on losing the 21-year-old mid-season, however, the information Arsenal already have on the player is a real positive.

Though Arteta did not sign the goalscorer, it’s not necessarily back to square one for the Spaniard when pursuing the forward, who is clearly a ready-made product already vetted to suit the Arsenal manager’s system.

The remainder of the season could be crucial for the player, and for Arsenal, whose paths could cross once again in the summer transfer window.
