Why Arsenal have an advantage over Bayern Munich in race to sign Morgan Rogers

Bayern Munich want Morgan Rogers, but they are unlikely to get him.

And that is great news for Arsenal.

Christian Falk has confirmed to CFBayern Insider that Vincent Kompany is genuinely interested in the Aston Villa midfielder and would love to manage him at the German club.

But Falk was quick to make clear a move to the Bundesliga champions will not be on the cards.

“It is true. Vincent Kompany is interested in Morgan Rogers, likes the Aston Villa star and would like to have him in Munich,” he said.

“The price tag is very high, and there are simply too many Premier League clubs following the Englishman. I don’t think they can afford the player.”

Rogers contributed 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions for Aston Villa this season, helping them win the Europa League and secure Champions League football.

Aston Villa are adamant they do not want to sell, but at around £80million, the right offer could force their hand.

Why Arsenal are better placed than Bayern Munich to land Morgan Rogers

Bayern’s financial constraints and the volume of Premier League competition make their pursuit of Rogers a long shot.

Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in the player’s situation, but it’s Arsenal who are the clear frontrunners.

Rogers is said to want Arsenal above any other club, so the Gunners are confident they are in pole position should Rogers become available.

Arteta is keen to build a strong English core at the club, and Rogers would join fellow World Cup teammates Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze.

That’s without mentioning the young crop of English talent coming through: Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri, Max Dowman, and the incoming Jeremy Monga.

As Premier League champions and frankly the only top-six club with proper stability right now, Arsenal can offer Rogers the chance to compete for the game’s biggest prizes immediately.

The club’s project under Arteta is one of the most exciting in European football, and Rogers has already demonstrated his admiration for the Gunners, having previously described the Arsenal squad as some of the best players in the world.

Arsenal are also prepared to create space for Rogers by selling Gabriel Martinelli and potentially Leandro Trossard, giving him a clear pathway into the starting XI rather than simply adding to squad depth.

Rogers fits the profile Arteta likes — powerful, technically gifted, capable of playing across multiple attacking positions and still with significant room to improve.

Bayern, for all Kompany’s admiration, cannot match Arsenal’s offer.
