Why Rodrygo to Arsenal is delayed as transfer depends on one crucial Real Madrid factor

Rodrygo has made his way onto Arsenal’s transfer list as his future at Real Madrid remains in question. 

It’s understood that there are as many as 12 attackers on Andrea Berta’s transfer list, one of which is Rodrygo.

The Real Madrid forward has starred at the Bernabeu since his 2019 transfer from Santos, but his role is far from being the protagonist. 

Arsenal fancy their chances of signing Rodrygo, having started talks over a possible transfer, and it seems the player is doing his bit as well.

Rodrygo has not yet decided on his future at Real Madrid

Over in Madrid, Xabi Alonso was coy about Rodrygo’s future, admitting that he will talk to the 24-year-old soon.

What’s interesting is that a fresh report, courtesy of AS, has revealed that the winger has the same task on his to-do list. 

It’s understood that ‘everything depends’ on the outcome of Rodrygo’s conversation with Alonso, as the forward wants to understand his role in his new manager’s eyes before making a decision on his future.

Though it has been reported by some that the Brazilian wants to remain at Real Madrid, AS claim that Rodrygo ‘hasn’t made any decisions’ regarding his transfer status this summer.

The Spanish outlet made it clear that until the conversation takes place, the Arsenal target’s stance will not change, with the Gunners set to embark on a waiting game to learn more.

Arsenal one of three Premier League clubs eyeing Rodrygo 

Rodrygo is already rated highly at Arsenal, making him the perfect candidate to bolster Mikel Arteta’s front line.

AS mentioned the Gunners in their report, naming Chelsea, Manchester City and the North Londoners as those ‘especially’ suited to the Brazil international. 

What Arteta desperately needs is competition in the wide areas on the back of another lacklustre campaign for Gabriel Martinelli.

Rodrygo presents the perfect partner for his compatriot, being a fellow right-footed player best suited to playing on the left.

It appears that the player has a lot of decisions to make this summer, with his next move set to hinge on how valued he feels by Alonso.
