Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo ahead of the summer transfer window opening next month.

It comes as the Gunners look to bolster their forward ranks, with several options being assessed by Andrea Berta to add some firepower to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The tale of Arsenal’s season has been one of feast or famine in front of goal, either scoring heavily or missing the mark when it really counts.

In all, it has seen the Gunners miss out on another trophy chance, losing out on the Premier League title, while the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup all got away from them.

Arsenal are eyeing a transfer for Viktor Gyokeres to build out their striker options, while a winger is also on the radar.

Rodrygo has appeared as the latest link for that position, with the Real Madrid star seemingly available this summer.

Arsenal start talks with Rodrygo about a potential summer transfer switch

Arsenal have been linked with a transfer for Rodrygo, as the Brazilian appears set to leave Real Madrid over the summer.

The 24-year-old is part of a star-studded frontline at the Bernabeu, which includes the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham.

With further additions expected for Los Blancos this summer, there may have to be some exits to help fund their signings.

Rodrygo may be part of those plans, with Arsenal viewing the move as an opportunity to strengthen in the market.

That interest has turned into action, as Florian Plettenberg reports that talks have begun behind the scenes with the Gunners looking to land the forward.

It’s claimed that the deal is “difficult” but with Arsenal looking at all of the options at an early part of the market, it may well open up a deal further down the line, with the reporter stating “deal on”.

It’s a huge development in the case of Rodrygo, who could now be in the middle of a transfer tussle over the coming weeks.

Rodrygo transfer talks may spell bad news for Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard

The potential addition of Rodrygo at Arsenal would bring about more competition for places within the team.

The Brazilian, should he join, is expected to compete for the left-wing position against the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Throughout the campaign, the pair have endured some difficult spells along with some better patches of form.

However, with Martinelli and Trossard facing dwindling contracts and transfer interest elsewhere, the addition of Rodrygo may only push them further out.

There would be three players vying for one position, and although all of them are versatile and capable of playing elsewhere, the left flank may be the only place they could stake a regular claim.

It remains to be seen how that deal would impact the duo, but it certainly would make it tougher for them.
