Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres has pulled out of the Sweden squad ahead of the upcoming international fixtures, fuelling speculation about his potential move to the Emirates.
Gyokeres enjoyed a spectacular 2024/25 season, netting 54 goals in 52 games across all competitions for Sporting.
The Portuguese giants’ season concluded in late May as they beat Benfica in the Taca de Portugal, and the prolific striker is now set to sort out his future.
Andrea Berta is a huge admirer of Gyokeres, although the Gunners are still considering signing Benjamin Sesko instead of the former Coventry man.
A decision on which of the two to pursue is expected to be made soon by the Arsenal hierarchy.

Viktor Gyokeres pulls out of Sweden squad due to injury
Gyokeres hinted that he has an agreement with Arsenal on a Norwegian podcast on Monday, prompting belief from the Gunners faithful that it’s inevitable that he ends up in N5.
The Arsenal supporters may have been given another reason to believe that the 26-year-old is Islington-bound after he pulled out of the Sweden squad on Tuesday morning.
According to FotbollSkanalen, Gyokeres has sustained a minor injury that he needs to rehabilitate.
The Swedish national team’s press officer, Petra Thoren, revealed that the player consulted with the medical team and a decision was made for him to miss matches against Hungary and Algeria in the coming weeks.
Thoren was unable to issue a response when asked if Gyokeres’ omission from the national team was related to potential transfer proceedings.

Viktor Gyokeres has ‘verbal agreement’ with Arsenal
Berta is trying to keep Arsenal’s pursuit of Gyokeres under wraps, with the Gunners keen for their striker priority not to be made public.
However, it’s been reported via TBR Football that Arsenal have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with the ex-Brighton man over a prospective transfer.
Gyokeres is eager to complete a switch to the Emirates, and the Gunners could land him for a purported £55 million.
However, the player’s desire to join Arsenal was never really in question, with the doubt around the transfer deriving from the North Londoners’ indecision over him or Sesko.
This merely confirms that if the Gunners do eventually choose to sign Gyokeres, it should be a relatively straightforward deal to get done.
