The Arsenal academy has seen plenty of change over recent months, with yet another star leaving the club for a new opportunity.

It has been something of a mixed time for the youth team as Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly shine a light on the young ranks, while a few big exits have also brought questions about where some talent may go.

That has continued as of late as Zane Monlouis made a permanent transfer to Toronto FC, with the defender signing an initial two-year deal in the MLS.

He isn’t the only one to leave Arsenal though, with the Hale End academy also seeing another star make an exit, joining Premier League rivals.

Bless Akolbire leaves Arsenal to make Leicester transfer switch

Arsenal youngster Bless Akolbire has made the permanent switch from the club to join Leicester City this month.

The 18-year-old joined the Gunners in 2020 on schoolboy terms before progressing into the under-18s on a scholarship.

Akolbire made eight appearances in the under-18s Premier League before joining Leicester on a trial basis.

That move has been made permanent, with the midfielder now looking to continue his progression through the ranks with the Foxes.

The youngster is capable of playing as a defensive midfielder, a central midfielder and an attacking playmaker, with his box-to-box style offering plenty of energy and quality.

It remains to be seen what opportunities he could get at Leicester, with the Premier League side facing the possibility of relegation this season.

Taking to social media after the move was confirmed, Akolbire posted confirmation surrounding the switch.

He said: “Proud moment to sign my first professional contract. Thank you to my Family and brothers to get me to this point. Praise God.”

The comments were filled with many wishing Akolbire luck in his next venture, which included some former Arsenal teammates.

Chido Obi, who made his switch to Manchester United in the summer, commented an emoji of hands raised, seemingly praising the star on his move.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, who has progressed from Hale End star to Arsenal first-teamer this season, simply replied with a heart emoji.

With plenty of academy talent now starting to take different routes, it’ll be intriguing to see how the current crop of starlets progress through their careers.
