Arsenal youngster Max Dowman continues to shine in the youth ranks, but this time he is doing so away from Hale End.

The 15-year-old is part of the England under-17s squad turning up for this month’s European Championships, with plenty up for grabs.

While Max Dowman is among the youngest in the side, he is without a doubt one of the brightest talents available.

The Arsenal starlet, who has received plenty of plaudits in the Hale End academy, has a chance to show exactly how good he is during the tournament.

With Dowman expected to be part of Arsenal’s senior team next season, the youngster can add yet another record to his name before taking that next step.

Max Dowman could join legendary names with the Euros under-17s player of the tournament call

Arsenal youngster Max Dowman has received praise from John Terry for his impact at the youth level, as he eyes a step up.

Before he does that, his progress within the youth teams continues with the under-17s European championships for England.

Dowman and the Young Lions kick-started their campaign with a first group game against Belgium in Albania.

The match ended in a draw, with the Arsenal academy star being one of the standout performers for the side.

His ability to drive forward on the ball, evading defenders at every twist and turn, was a particular highlight, while he was unlucky not to open the scoring within the first minute.

Should he continue to impress and perhaps land a goal and an assist or two along the way, Dowman could land the player of the tournament award.

Should he do that, he would join a very impressive list of players who preceded him, which includes the likes of Wayne Rooney in 2002, Cesc Fabregas in 2004 and Toni Kroos in 2006.

That may well be the next step for Dowman to show he really is capable of taking that next step for Arsenal.

England under-17s next matches for Max Dowman and Jack Porter

It wasn’t only Max Dowman who featured for the England under-17s from Arsenal, with goalkeeper Jack Porter also featuring.

The duo were forced to settle for a point against Belgium in their opener in the tournament, with some big games around the corner.

Italy are up next for the Young Lions, before taking on the Czech Republic in the final group stage match of group B.

There are two groups, and the top two of each will qualify for the following round, which will enter the semi-final stage.

England have only won the tournament twice, in 2010 and 2014, with Dowman and Porter looking to write themselves in the history books.
