Arsenal fans fear they have another Raheem Sterling in the squad after Nottingham Forest draw

It’s been seven months since Raheem Sterling left Arsenal, but fans think the disastrous 2024 signing has found a way back into the squad in the form of another player.

To say that Arsenal fans aren’t happy after the 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest would be an understatement.

The Gunners missed yet another chance to claim three points after Manchester City dropped them, with the gap at the top of the Premier League sitting at seven points instead of the desired nine.

It’s clear that Mikel Arteta has changes to make to his Arsenal squad in order to get the best out of his players, but some supporters are concerned that one star has already hit his ceiling.

Who was Arsenal’s most disappointing player vs Nottingham Forest?

Arsenal fans think Gabriel Jesus is finished after Nottingham Forest cameo

Gabriel Jesus only returned from injury in December, but fans think they’ve already seen enough of the Brazilian.

Plenty of Arsenal players struggled against Forest, one being Jesus, who had Arsenal fans talking on social media.

“Can we please just accept that Gabriel Jesus is finished at the highest level…. Havertz should have been on that pitch ahead of him.” One fan wrote on X.

The verdict might seem harsh, but with a Premier League title to be won, fans made it clear that the 28-year-old striker isn’t who Arteta should be looking to anymore.

One X user posted, “That Gabriel Jesus substitution each game is so useless.”

Can Gabriel Jesus get back to his best, or should Arsenal cash in?

Another shared the same opinion, writing, “Think Gabriel Jesus coming into this team is hurting us more than it’s benefitting us, but that’s just me.”

Concerningly, one Arsenal fan compared Jesus’ lack of impact to Raheem Sterling’s when he was at the club.

“He’s never going to be able to play at that top level again. Bro is screaming Raheem Sterling.”

Sterling was once one of the best players in the world, but his fall from grace has been punishing, with fans now concerned that Jesus could suffer the same fate.

Moving on from Sterling, Viktor Gyokeres came into the conversation.

Gyokeres was awful against Nottingham Forest, but fans still think the Swede offers more than Jesus.

“People are mad at Gyokeres, and that’s fine, but Jesus gives us absolutely nothing when he comes on,” one wrote on X.

Another asked, “Why do we take off Gyokeres for Jesus, we go down to 10 men every time.”

Though Jesus is not expected to leave Arsenal anytime soon, one fan made it clear that the Gunners should cut ties with the Brazilian this winter.

“Jesus is absolutely useless, we need to get rid at all costs this January because he is a net-negative.”

Gabriel Jesus is the least of Arsenal’s problems

Jesus didn’t have a good game against Forest and, admittedly, hasn’t been very impressive since returning from injury.

That being said, a seasoned Premier League striker who just missed a year of football mustn’t be scapegoated, as he’s merely an underperforming piece of a wildly underperforming puzzle.

If you were Mikel Arteta, how would you solve this problem?

It was only three Premier League games ago that Jesus last scored, which, by Arsenal’s attacking standards, is very good.

Players such as Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke haven’t scored in even longer, the same with Bukayo Saka.

Arteta’s attack as a whole isn’t performing, which gives the boss some serious questions to answer, as it’s so clear that Arsenal can’t miss another opportunity due to attacking inefficiency.
