Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya showed a touch of class when he congratulated a Liverpool star for winning the Premier League this season.

It came before the clash between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield, with the two rivals facing off in an opportunity to claim three points and bragging rights.

Liverpool are already Premier League champions, having built a large gap over the Gunners, with Mikel Arteta looking towards the future and a chance to claim the title next season.

While Arsenal’s challenge this season has fallen short, many have questioned just how well the side would take the failure.

As shown by David Raya, the players appear to have acknowledged just how good the eventual Premier League champions have been.

David Raya congratulates Alisson Becker before Arsenal clash with Liverpool

Plenty is often said about the so-called “goalkeepers’ union”, with shot-stoppers often recognising how difficult their peers can find it between the sticks.

David Raya displayed just how classy he is before Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool, going over to find Alisson Becker in the pre-match warm-ups.

The Spaniard ran over to the Brazilian, congratulating him for the part he played in winning the Premier League title.

It’s a touching moment, one that Raya will no doubt hope is returned next season, should he help guide Arsenal to the title.

It remains to be seen whether that will happen, but the Arsenal shot-stopper wasn’t short of any praise for Alisson last time he discussed the star.

David Raya praised Alisson Becker’s impact at Liverpool

While Raya has impressed at Arsenal this season, the goalkeeper has already revealed his admiration for Alisson.

Speaking to Ben Foster on Amazon Prime Video earlier this month, the goalkeeper said: “I think Alisson is just…the one vs ones, he saves everything. I don’t know how he does it, he saves every single one-on-one.”

When asked if he took anything from the Brazilian for his own game, Raya continued: “Yeah, of course, you have to have an open mind just to see how he can be so good in one vs ones, what he does.

“And it’s weird because he’s always so close to the ball, when sometimes you don’t have that time to get close to the ball, and you have to be set and react.

“He reads those situations so well, where maybe he’s made the pass or he’s driving with the ball, and then the last touch is a bit heavy, so he’s on top there.

“The way he reads things is incredible in those situations. He’s been one of the top goalkeepers in the world for so many years, and the quality he has, the experience.”

It shows just how impactful Raya’s peers in the goalkeeping department are and how he can continue to get better.
