Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Brentford belonged to Ben White, who returned to the starting XI with a bang.
Before kick-off, White had played just 71 minutes in the Premier League this season, last featuring on the opening day at Old Trafford.
The primary reason behind the defender’s omission has been Arsenal’s improved squad depth, turning competition within the squad up a notch.
Jurrien Timber has kept White out of the starting XI with his excellence; however, in the Englishman’s eyes, the increased depth is only a good thing.
Ben White was unstoppable vs Brentford, can he get back into the starting XI?
Ben White shares Arsenal squad depth verdict
White was incredible against Brentford, showcasing exactly why he was Mikel Arteta’s first choice right-back when the Gunners first announced themselves as title challengers.
Due to no fault of his own, his status in the squad has changed, so much so that Arsenal are open to selling White in the near future.
Despite his unfortunate situation, the 28-year-old suggested that other players in the squad might have it worse than him.
When asked whether he thinks Arsenal have the best squad in the Premier League, White responded on Sky Sports:
“I don’t know. Obviously, training every day with all these players is unbelievable. There’s players that don’t get any minutes that would start in any other team.”
Which of Arsenal’s bench players are good enough to play for any other Premier League side?
In the Arsenal player’s eyes, some of his teammates who don’t get many chances on the pitch would walk into an array of Premier League rivals’ starting XI’s.
It was a bold claim from White, but one that was actually proven right against Brentford.
One player proved Ben White’s claim right against Brentford
Arsenal’s squad is packed with talent, as Brentford know, having faced the team that signed their former captain, Christian Norgaard.

Norgaard has barely played at Arsenal, collecting only 14 minutes in the Premier League so far this season.
The Dane’s lack of minutes proves White’s comments to be spot on, as it was only last season that Norgaard claimed 34 Premier League starts as Brentford’s captain.
Now, the midfielder’s role is simply to provide cover for those ahead of him in Arsenal’s pecking order, emphasising just how strong the Gunners’ squad really is.
