Mikel Arteta will surely be disappointed with some of his Arsenal players during the team’s latest win, with Piero Hincapie one of those who struggled.
Arsenal secured a vital three points against Wolverhampton Wanderers, winning 2-1; however, they were really made to work for the victory.
Bukayo Saka helped force two own goals from Wolves’ players, with Sam Johnstone and Yersen Mosquera both turning the ball into their own net.
How do you rate Piero Hincapie’s start to life at Arsenal out of 10? 🤔
Do you worry about how rash he can be at times?
It was a tough evening for several Arsenal players, including Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze, but Hincapie’s display will have also left supporters with some concerns.
The Ecuadorian international has shown signs of why Andrea Berta wanted to bring him to Arsenal, but he has also highlighted the fact that he still has much learning to do.
Piero Hincapie must learn to temper his aggression at Arsenal
Mikel Arteta must work with Piero Hincapie on helping him to channel his aggressive style of defending at Arsenal.
Several times against Wolves, the Gunners’ defence was breached quite easily, and once again they lost their clean sheet.
In fairness to Hincapie, he has so far had four different centre-back partners since being brought into the team after Gabriel Magalhaes’ injury, which certainly won’t help.
He was also shifted over to left-back in the latest match, but whilst constant chopping and changing won’t help him, it’s clear he is still quite rash as a defender.
The 23-year-old has now made mistakes in the last two goals Arsenal have conceded, with Tolu Arokodare comfortably beating him to a cross into the box, which was turned home.
What should Arsenal do with Ben White after picking up yet another injury?
Ben White has had no luck in recent times.
Arsenal fans also slammed Hincapie’s performance against Aston Villa as the defender gave away a silly throw-in and then failed to block Emi Buendia’s shot.
Given the hectic run of games, Arteta will have had limited time to work with his Arsenal defenders in training, which is another factor working against Hincapie at the moment.
Berta pushed to bring Hincapie to Arsenal, but it’s clear that it’s going to take time for him to become accustomed to his new surroundings in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta issues worrying Ben White injury update
Another key concern from the match was Ben White picking up a suspected hamstring injury, which forced him off during the match.
In the 30th minute, White had to be replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly, with the defender receiving treatment before heading straight down the tunnel.
After the match, Arteta revealed that the injury looks like “bad news” and that it was also risky playing William Saliba for 90 minutes, according to Simons Collings.
Arteta is starting to run out of options in defence, which has meant that some of his players are being run into the ground during a hectic period.
