Jamie Carragher’s Declan Rice prediction in Arsenal vs Man City was correct
Several big names in Premier League punditry covered the fixture on Sky Sports, including Thierry Henry.
Before the game, Henry noticed an issue Arsenal have in title races, which was boldly resolved as the champions were thrashed at the Emirates.
The Arsenal legend wasn’t the only figure to comment on the Gunners before the match, as Jamie Carragher made one bold prediction about the game.
Carragher, who has commented on Arsenal multiple times, turned his attention to Declan Rice and predicted that City would struggle to contain the midfielder.
“I don’t think they [Man City] will be able to cope with the power of Declan Rice if he plays as he played against Aston Villa. I know it was a poor result for Arsenal but he was outstanding.”
Rice was indeed outstanding against Aston Villa and fortunately for the Gunners, Carragher’s prediction was correct as the midfielder dominated Pep Guardiola’s side.
Picking up the man of the match award, Rice was Arsenal’s best player against Man City, earning high praise for his remarkable display in midfield.
Rice is Arsenal’s most important player right now
Danny Murphy called Rice the ‘best in the country’ after his performance against the champions, applauding the way the England international wins duels high up the pitch.
It was a masterclass from the 26-year-old but, was nothing outside of the norm for Rice, who is consistently brilliant for Arsenal.
Such goes under the radar at times due to how consistent the Englishman’s quality is, so much so that it’s difficult to imagine where Arsenal would be without their 2023 signing.
Playing in the number eight role, Rice is a key creator, a strong duel winner, a contributor to goals and an innate leader, everything the Gunners could want from their £105m man and more.
