Brentford manager Keith Andrews addressed the media ahead of his team’s trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal.
The Gunners have had their fair share of dramas against the Bees, who pose a real challenge for every team they face.
While Arsenal could make changes to face Brentford, one of the Gunners’ favoured weapons will remain: set-pieces.
Mikel Arteta loves Arsenal scoring from set-play, but Andrews’ side are well-rehearsed from dead-ball situations, setting Wednesday’s clash up to be a very interesting affair.
Can Arsenal’s defence deal with Igor Thiago against Brentford?
Keith Andrews already has one prediction about Arsenal vs Brentford
Arsenal have the chance to return to winning ways against the Bees, but three points won’t be easy to obtain.
Though the league leaders will naturally head into the game as the favourites, it could be a difficult contest to call; however, Andrews thinks he knows what could unfold.
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, the Brentford manager shared his opinion that the game could be heavily influenced by set-pieces.
“There will always be a lot made of that: the set-piece battle, with two teams who are invariably pretty good at that aspect of the game,” Andrews explained.
“In most games, set-pieces play a part to different levels. I think this will be a game where it plays a very big part, and we hope we can come out on the right side of it.”
The Irishman is aware of the quality Arsenal have, particularly from set-pieces, but he was also right to flag how impressive his own team are from those situations.
Nicolas Jover can earn the headlines against Brentford
Arsenal love scoring set-pieces, becoming a powerhouse at scoring from corners thanks to set-piece coach Nicolas Jover.
Brentford are also set-piece masters. Can Arsenal cope?
Jover has been praised for his work at Arsenal, but the coach will truly earn his money if he is able to find a way for the Gunners to break down the Bees from a dead-ball scenario.
While Arsenal are the Premier League’s top scorers from set-pieces, Brentford are the second-best when it comes to defending them.
Only Brighton have conceded fewer set-play goals than Andrews’ side in the Premier League this season, only conceding twice in 13 games.
The clash in the two boxes makes for a thriller at the Emirates, but who will come out on top?
