Mikel Merino was one of the star’s of the show as Arsenal breezed to victory against Ipswich Town in the Premier League – but he had high praise for another Gunners star.
It’s been a phenomonal week to be an Arsenal fan. After advancing in the Champions League against Real Madrid – supporters we’re treated to a 4-0 romping of Ipswich on Easter Sunday.
Goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Ethan Nwaneri and a Leandro Trossard double, combined with the helping hand of a Leif Davis red card, ensured that it was three points on the road and Arsenal’s 18th win in England’s top flight this season.

Merino was lauded by Gunners fans for his performance once more, and more so resurgance in red. That said – he was in admiration of another Arsenal player.
Mikel Merino says Gabriel Martinelli is on fire as he reaches 50 Arsenal goals
Martinelli broke a number of personal records against Ipswich, but there was one he was particularly ‘proud’ of. That was netting for the 50th time in an Arsenal shirt against The Tractor Boys.
He celebrated this on Instagram with the following message: ’50 goals for the Arsenal. Proud.’
Teammate Merino responded, stating that the Brazilian was in fact ‘on fire’ followed by a muscle emoji.

Declan Rice also responds to Martinelli
Declan Rice also showed some love to Martinelli. He was also found in the comments adorning the Gunners winger.
He put, ‘he’s from Sao Paolo’, followed by a lovestruck emoji. This is obviously an ode to Martinelli’s chant.

There was a time where Arsenal fans were unsure about Martinelli, but there is little doubt about his ability anymore.
The 50-goal milestone is a testemant to that, and we’re certain he’ll score many, many more in an Arsenal shirt over his career.
