Nobody is talking about what Arsenal star did in the 51st minute vs Nottingham Forest

One Arsenal player’s actions against Nottingham Forest have seriously fallen under the radar.

Martin Zubimendi stole the show against Forest, scoring a brace to decide the direction of the three points.

Viktor Gyokeres also added to his tally, combining well with Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, whose influence on the left wing was noticed.

Naturally, a 3-0 victory points at those in attack; however, David Raya deserves a lot of praise for what he did during Arsenal’s win on matchday four.

David Raya’s save against Nottingham Forest is going under the radar

Arsenal dominated Forest, which was to be expected amid the stark change happening at the City Ground.

That being said, the visitors still caused some problems, albeit minor, but Raya had to work to earn his third clean sheet of the season.

In the 51st minute of play, shortly after Arsenal doubled their lead through Gyokeres, Chris Wood almost found the net in bizarre circumstances.

The New Zealand international met a cross from Dan Ndoye with his chest, firing a shot at Raya’s goal that hit the crossbar.

Replays showed that the shot would’ve gone in had Raya not pushed the ball onto the bar with his fingertips, in what was a remarkable show of instant reaction from the Spaniard.

The 29-year-old might be wondering why nobody is talking about his incredible save, as the moment went overlooked due to what Arsenal did at the other end of the pitch.

Mikel Arteta doubled down on his decision to axe Aaron Ramsdale for Raya

If there’s one figure who would’ve congratulated the Spain international on his save, it’s Mikel Arteta.

Before the game, Arteta spoke about Raya in his pre-match press conference, reacting to the goalkeeper racking up 100 appearances for Arsenal.

The Arsenal manager took a moment to pat himself on the back for making the bold decision to drop Aaron Ramsdale for Raya after the 2023 summer transfer window.

“I was hammered when I brought him, so that’s perspective as well,” Arteta said.

“Very good to understand the game, and especially when a few months or years go by. It’s really good to look back as well and reflect on that.”

While Raya has been going from strength to strength as Arsenal’s number one, Ramsdale’s nightmares continue, as after suffering relegation with Southampton, he’s now Newcastle’s number two.
