£50m Arsenal player should be a star for his national team, his prime years are being wasted

As we approach another crucial England game at Wembley tomorrow it’s still quite baffling that Arsenal’s Ben White isn’t involved.

White does have four caps for England but is now seemingly out of the picture under Gareth Southgate’s management.

And although it’s not quite clear why Arsenal’s White has seemingly been omitted from selection for England, the team is missing out.

In addition to his brilliant attributes as a right-back, White’s versatility across the back line could be a huge asset for England.

With John Stones missing during the last few international windows, England have looked bereft of top quality at centre-back.

Arsenal linked Marc Guehi has been a stellar addition to the fold, but the squad is still crying out for a player like White.

There’s good reason to think that White could now start for England at right back and at centre-half given his progress at Arsenal.

A player who could now be considered the most underrated player at the club.

And Arsenal fans may appreciate a little more transparency from Southgate as to why White isn’t being picked.

White should be starring for Arsenal and England

Since joining the club from Brighton Hove Albion for £50m, White has been an easy pick for Mikel Arteta.

Whatever role he’s been deployed in, White has always been one of the top performers.

And although he seemed slightly fatigued in his appearances towards the end of last season, he looks renewed thus.

Moreover, there’s no doubt that White really would add so much to this team under Southgate.

Arsenal’s squad is already proving a strong foundation for the England side with Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka now looking so crucial.

In addition, had Aaron Ramsdale not been displaced by David Raya at the club, he may have been right on the cusp of a starting role too.

It appears to be a difficult situation, but what is clear is England would be a much better side with Arsenal’s Ben White included.

And from an Arsenal fan perspective, it is a shame to see the nation not benefiting from some of the full-back’s prime years.
