Former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is enduring a nightmare start to life at Southampton.
Arsenal sold Ramsdale to the Saints during the summer transfer window, bringing his three-year stay at the Emirates to a close.
Mikel Arteta admitted it was difficult to let Ramsdale go, as the Arsenal manager dealt with a lot of criticism regarding his decision to bring in David Raya.
It’s already become clear that the Gunners made the right decision, as Ramsdale continues to struggle through a relegation battle at St Mary’s.

Aaron Ramsdale’s punditry blunder against Tottenham
Southampton sit bottom of the Premier League table with just five points from a possible 48.
The Saints made the difficult decision to part ways with Russell Martin after their latest result, losing 5-0 at home to Tottenham.
While Ramsdale didn’t play against his former North London rivals, the goalkeeper still managed to get himself into a spot of bother.
After the defeat, the Englishman spoke to TNT Sports as a pundit, where he bizarrely commented on the Saints’ thrashing, making a dressing-room prediction about his teammates.
“I think there will be some home truths, especially when you can see it on the big screen,” Ramsdale said before commenting on the opportunity for post-match analysis among the squad.
“I’m not too sure after that, after being 5-0 down at halftime, I’m not quite sure how the gaffer will go about it. He’ll definitely dissect the goals to see how we can work. He might try and spin it into a positive, showing what we can do when we get it right.”
Many wondered why the Saints ‘keeper wasn’t in the dressing room with his teammates instead of taking up a punditry role, as he shared an insight into what unfolds behind the scenes after defeat.
Ramsdale makes familiar Arsenal mistake
It’s rare to see a player employed by a club take on a punditry gig when analysing their own team, but it happened for Ramsdale.
While many were flabbergasted at the goalkeeper’s appearance on TNT Sports, others were less as shocked, considering the public mistakes the 26-year-old made at Arsenal.
In 2023, Ramsdale was interviewed by Behind The Game, where he bizarrely shared that he’s unable to concentrate for 90 minutes.
“If you ask me to focus on a game of football for 90 minutes I’m finished. I can’t do it.
“So that’s why I get involved with the fans and I sing along with the songs. Someone’s giving me abuse, I’ll turn around and give them a bit back.”
Ian Wright was shocked by Ramsdale’s comments at the time, with it being something the rather secretive Arteta would not have appreciated.
It’s unsurprising that Ramsdale’s Arsenal career ended shortly after such comments however, it hasn’t deterred him, or his former teammates, from acting in such a way.
Oleksandr Zinchenko has also been overly outspoken regarding dressing room ordeals, with it no coincidence that the Ukrainian’s stance at the Emirates is unclear.
Ramsdale hasn’t learnt from his costly error at Arsenal, doing the same thing for Southampton at the worst possible time.
