Over the last few weeks, Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is currently without a club, has been back training and playing for the Gunners.

The 32-year-old has been keeping fit back at London Colney during his search for his next venture as a player.

Max Dowman has really impressed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Max Dowman has really impressed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, even after just their first training session together.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was keen to see what all the fuss was about surrounding the 15-year-old, but he quickly understood why.

Last week, Dowman picked up a bad injury for Arsenal’s academy side following a challenge from one of his opponents. He is now facing two months on the sidelines.

But before the injury, Chamberlain told The Athletic: “When I saw him for the first time, I was thinking, ‘Let’s see what all this talk is about’.

“It wasn’t even a session where you could do that much, but right from the off, you could tell he is a proper player.

The youngster’s ability on the ball, along with his attitude, has made the former Gunners star realise that he is a ‘proper player’.

“The way he controls the ball and the way he moves, and from what I see, he’s a really good character, mature in the way he carries himself,” he added.

Dowman has been in great form for Arsenal’s youth teams this season, netting in every match in which he has featured.

The 16-year-old defender could be about to make his Champions League debut for the Gunners, following his exciting performances for the youth teams.

Salmon went away on tour with Arsenal during pre-season and is now in line to make the bench against Brugge.

Arsenal are missing Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Cristhian Mosquera, meaning another defender had to be drafted into the squad.
