All eyes will be on Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko when Arsenal take on Manchester United in the opening game of the new season.
The two strikers dominated headlines from the start of the transfer window, and both of them were of interest to Mikel Arteta and Ruben Amorim.
In fact, Sesko was Arsenal’s top target, while Gyokeres was the one Manchester United wanted to sign, but those plans changed.
Now, it will be interesting to see how the two forwards will fare for their respective sides.
Ally McCoist predicts who will score more goals – Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres or Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko?
Both Arsenal and Manchester United were in desperate need of a new striker this summer.
The Gunners haven’t had a prolific goalscorer for years, while Manchester United’s recruitment of strikers has been woeful in recent seasons.
Earlier in the window, many in the game felt that Sesko would join Arsenal and Gyokeres would end up at Manchester United.
Those roles have been reversed, and fans of both clubs are now really excited to see their talismen lead the line in the upcoming campaign.
Ally McCoist was speaking on talkSPORT recently, and he was asked to pick the player who would score the most goals out of Gyokeres, Sesko and Chelsea’s Joao Pedro.
The Scot replied: “I think they will all score goals, but I’ll actually go with Gyokeres. I saw enough of him. I know there are question marks, of course there are question marks, there are question marks with all signings.
“The one thing I would say, I think is that he will probably get more chances in that Arsenal team than certainly Sesko will at United and potentially Joao Pedro might at Chelsea.
“I just think he will get more chances at Arsenal, and for that reason, I think he will get the most goals out of the three of them.
Viktor Gyokeres has a point to prove at Arsenal because of Benjamin Sesko
A lot of people have been doubting Viktor Gyokeres since he joined Arsenal.
There are many who have been saying that the Gunners only signed the Swede because they couldn’t strike a deal with RB Leipzig for Benjamin Sesko.
We’re convinced that Gyokeres would’ve heard those things, and he will surely want to prove a point when Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.
If Gyokeres scores and fires Arsenal to a win right in front of Sesko, Arsenal signing him over the Slovene will be viewed as the right decision.
