Arsenal have seen a real change in their transfer efficiency following the arrival of Andrea Berta.
The Gunners were known to be hesitant in the market under former sporting director Edu Gaspar and that led to an underwhelming window last summer that ultimately cost the club.
Whilst Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori have been excellent signings, the failure to sign any attacking talents aside from Raheem Sterling on loan proved the difference when it came to winning the title.
However, Berta has hit the ground running this summer and has already added four players to Mikel Arteta’s armoury. One key decision could be about to further embarrass the Brazilian, who is now in a new role at Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.

Edu Gaspar had reservations over signing Noni Madueke for Arsenal in the past
According to the Athletic, Gunners boss Arteta has been a long-term admirer of new signing Noni Madueke but Edu’s reservations over the player prevented any deal from happening earlier.
Arsenal confirmed the signing of Madueke from Chelsea on a long-term contract in a deal worth £52m and Berta agreed with the Spaniard’s verdict on the player.
The report states: “Madueke has long had admirers among Arsenal’s coaching staff, including Mikel Arteta.
“In previous summers, former sporting director Edu and the recruitment department had reservations over any prospective deal, but with Andrea Berta now at the helm, there is a new dynamic.”
Berta sent shockwaves around Europe at the start of the window for his aggressive and decisive nature when it came to pursuing transfers.
The Gunners are now reaping the rewards with four new additions ready to go and the club are closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres.
What attracted Andrea Berta to signing Noni Madueke
Madueke is delighted to be joining Arsenal and the winger’s profile attracted the Gunners’ recruitment team in four main areas.
According to the report from the Athletic, Madueke’s ‘productivity’ and Premier League experience were key to his arrival, as well as his impressive injury record.
The 23-year-old’s ability to play on both wings also caught the eye of Berta and his staff and the club believe they have signed a real prospect.
Only time will tell whether that is the case but there are high hopes for the England international and it will certainly be intriguing to see how he fits into Arteta’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
