Arsenal’s scans on William Saliba’s hamstring injury have produced results, according to reports, that will keep him sidelined in the weeks ahead.

The Frenchman has been a key, ever-present symbol in the backline at the Emirates Stadium this season, despite issues around him on the fitness front.

Saliba was an injury absence in Arsenal vs Aston Villa though, with it being revealed that the centre-back picked up a hamstring issue against Tottenham in the game prior.

Without him, the north London side dropped points as they were unable to hold on to a two-goal lead, eventually drawing with the Villains.

Mikel Arteta revealed he was “very worried” about Saliba’s injury, given the lack of depth currently available in the side at Arsenal.

The extent of those worries have now been revealed, following further inspection on the Frenchman’s issues.

William Saliba injury timeline revealed for Arsenal

Saliba underwent scans on his hamstring injury the day after the draw with Aston Villa, with a closer look desired on the problem.

With those results now available, a report from French publication L’Equipe has revealed the extent of the injury.

It’s claimed that Saliba will be out for two weeks, which is set to keep him out of action in the Premier League and Champions League.

That news comes as something of a blessing and a curse for Arsenal, in the sense that he will not miss games but it isn’t a long lay-off like some of his other teammates.

It means Mikel Arteta faces a debate over which side he picks in the weeks ahead, especially with his centre-back pairing.

Against Aston Villa, the Arsenal boss moved Jurrien Timber to the middle, placing Thomas Partey at right-back.

Meanwhile, there is a chance that Jakub Kiwior could get the nod in central defence, if he wants to keep Timber at full-back.

Which games will William Saliba miss for Arsenal through injury?

With the injury now set to keep Saliba out of action for two weeks at least, there are three matches that he is likely to be absent for.

Two Champions League ties await, facing Dinamo Zagreb first and then Girona second, wrapping up the league phase.

In the Premier League, there is a match against Wolves coming up, while doubts remain over whether he could feature against Manchester City in early February.

The coming three games may be the best matches to be out for, especially if Arteta is able to rotate his squad slightly.

As for the clash with Man City, their recent 6-0 thrashing of Ipswich Town could point towards a change in fortunes – where a return for Saliba could be key.
