Ademola Lookman has recently emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal.
Arsenal are keen to bring in support for the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli this summer.
On paper, Mikel Arteta ought to have sufficient options in the wide areas. Leandro Trossard is vying for the starting berth on the left flank, whilst Gabriel Jesus can deputise on the wings if required, and Reiss Nelson ought to be offering back up for Saka.
However, Nelson may be set to leave Arsenal, and Arteta clearly lacks faith in the Hale End academy graduate in any case, as he only granted him one Premier League start last season. On top of that, Jesus is preferred through the middle, and will be keen to establish himself as the first choice striker this season.
Saka suffered with fatigue at one stage last season, and genuine competition is required for the England international.
Arsenal are now linked with Ademola Lookman, with the Gunners having tabled a £42.5 million offer for the Atalanta attacker.
The 26-year-old has featured in the Premier League before for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, without ever really impressing on a consistent basis. However, he took his game to a new level with Atalanta last season, even scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final as the Italian club claimed the trophy.

Arsenal fans urge Mikel Arteta to avoid Ademola Lookman
However, despite the 23-cap Nigeria international’s heroics on the continental stage last season, Arsenal fans aren’t convinced that he is of the standard required to take Arteta’s squad to the next level.
Many supporters of the North London club on X have now warned the Spanish coach against signing the winger.
One said: “Lookman una he’s not even better than nelson.”
Another stated: “I doubt Lookman is one for us. Need more of a ball player rather than another transition player.”
One asked: “You lot really think we are signing lookman? We are trying to win the PL and Lookman will raise the level? Kmt.”
Another added: “Why get lookman when we already have gabi m and leandro? Pointless.”
Forget Lookman, Arsenal must chase Nico Williams
Nico Williams dazzled at Euro 2024 earlier this summer, even scoring for Spain in the final as they beat England.
The Athletic Bilbao star boasts searing pace, the ability to operate on either flank, creativity, and has an eye for goal. Bringing him to the Emirates Stadium would represent a real statement from Arteta.
Williams is still available in this transfer window, and ought to be Arsenal’s top priority.
