Declan Rice sends message to Gabriel Martinelli

Just as he did at the Santiago Bernabeu to sink Real Madrid, Martinelli scored a finely worked goal assisted by Mikel Merino to contribute to the win against Ipswich.

In what has been a trialling season for Martinelli on the injury and form front, the Brazilian has now scored in consecutive games, as he hopes to end the campaign on a high.

After the win at Portman Road, the winger took to social media to celebrate hitting the 50-goal milestone, posting a series of images on Instagram.

With a caption that read, ‘50 goals for the Arsenal. Proud’, warm wishes flooded the comment section, with Declan Rice’s message being one that fans in particular will love.

‘He’s from Sao Paulo,’ Rice wrote, paying homage to Arsenal fans’ new chant for Martinelli, a song that was created at the Bernabeu.

Merino was also in the comment section, praising Martinelli for being ‘on fire’ with his recent contribution to the goals.

Martinelli was a livewire against Ipswich

With the memories of Madrid still fresh in his mind, Martinelli tormented Ipswich with his pace and positioning.

While the winger’s dribbling usually troubles opposition teams, it was instead the Brazilian’s presence around goal that hindered the Tractor Boys.
