Arsenal’s quest to add extra goals to Mikel Arteta’s side became a priority in January due to the injury to Bukayo Saka.

Saka tore his hamstring against Crystal Palace in December, with the Gunners talisman set to be on the sidelines for at least two months.

Ethan Nwaneri took Saka’s role and scored in Arsenal’s draw against Brighton on Saturday, a game where Matt Upson believed that Nwaneri showed enough to replace Saka whilst he’s unavailable.

His goal was a positive start, but the 17-year-old will have to replace Saka’s 15 goal contributions in the Premier League, by far the most in the Arsenal squad.

The goals will have to be replaced somehow, leading to Gunners fans turning to Stan Kroenke to hope for attacking reinforcements in January. According to one report, one key market still remains available to Arsenal if they are willing to act.

Eintracht Frankfurt haven’t received offers for Omar Marmoush

Arsenal were linked with Omar Marmoush going into January, who has scored a remarkable 18 goals for Eintracht Frankfurt this season.

This would suggest that Frankfurt would be inundated with bids for their Egyptian star, but the latest update by journalist Florian Plettenberg states the opposite.

Plettenberg said: “Eintracht have also not received any offer. Eintracht have also not received any information from Marmoush so far indicating that he wants to transfer in the next days.”

Plettenberg’s update came amidst reports that Manchester City were closing in on a deal for Marmoush but Frankfurt’s stance on the Egyptian gives Arsenal the chance to capitalise.

Arsenal fans were excited about the Marmoush rumours when they first arose, which is understandable given the multiple issues that the deal could solve for Arteta.

Omar Marmoush could solve two key Arsenal issues

Foremostly, Marmoush would be seen as an ideal solution to Arsenal’s ongoing search for a new striker. With Eddie Howe playing down any interest in Alexander Isak, Marmoush would be a more achievable and affordable alternative for the Arsenal manager.

However, Marmoush has also been known to play in wide areas in Germany, indicating that he could help replicate Saka’s output from the wide areas in the short term.

Marmoush has created seven goals for Frankfurt this season, whilst also averaging 2.18 chances created per 90 minutes which is only slightly lower than Saka’s 2.96 per game in the Premier League.

His goals alone should be enough to convince the Arsenal owners to pursue a move for Marmoush but his additional creative attributes would make him an even more valuable addition.
