One Arsenal loanee endured a nightmare match day in the latest round of fixtures but, it wasn’t all bad news for the player.
Mikel Arteta will be keeping a close eye on how Arsenal’s loan players are doing this season away from the Emirates.
Senior players such as Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson were sent away to secure more game time, with the duo experiencing contrasting campaigns.
Nelson has been ruled out for the season with injury to bring his time at Fulham to a close, while Vieira continues to impress at Porto.
At Craven Cottage, Nelson is combatting a nightmare outcome of his loan spell but, the Englishman isn’t the only one to experience a blow away from N5.

Arsenal loanee Karl Hein concedes seven goals in La Liga
Despite having only made one senior appearance for Arsenal, goalkeeper Karl Hein has been generating attention as he navigates his way through a loan spell in Spain’s top flight.
La Liga is teaching the 22-year-old some lessons both positive and negative, with his latest performance putting him under the microscope.
Representing Real Valladolid, the 2024/25 campaign is not going as hoped for the newly-promoted side, who sit rock bottom of the league table having suffered 18 defeats.
Hein has made 25 league appearances this season for Valladolid, with one of his most humbling experiences coming on match day 25.
Against Athletic Bilbao, Valladolid were stunned by a 7-1 defeat away from home, seeing the Arsenal loanee earn a punishing rating by Spanish media outlets.
ElDesmarque awarded Hein a 0/10 match rating, saying that the goalkeeper was ‘not up to the task of representing’ the club.
Fortunately, the Arsenal ‘keeper’s blushes were spared to some degree as nine starting players also received the same feedback.
After Hein was tormented by Kylian Mbappe in January, the challenges keep coming for the loanee, who for the second time this season, conceded seven goals in a La Liga match.
Hein actually impressed despite heavy defeat
The poor match rating was expected from the national newspaper, who were perplexed by Valladolid’s collective performance against Bilbao.
Arsenal target Nico Williams shone against Hein but, the winger wasn’t the only one to impress on the night.
Karl Hein vs Athletic Bilbao
9 saves
-1.11 goals prevented
15/27 long balls
2 high claims
Remarkably, Hein himself actually had a very impressive game, with his statistical performance meriting a 7.9 match rating from Sofascore.
The Arsenal loanee did have to remove the ball from the net seven times, but he did also pull his weight for his club, making nine saves, highlighting just how much pressure Valladolid were under.
In a memorable 90 minutes for the wrong reasons, Hein can hold his head high as a player who did what he could to prevent the thrashing, with his loan spell certainly testing him away from North London.
