Every Arsenal fan will tell you that they need a new striker.
The Gunners have a fantastic team when everyone is fit. They are capable of going toe-to-toe against any club in the world and coming out on top.
However, there’s always room for improvement, and the one thing Arsenal need is a prolific goalscorer who will guarantee 25 goals a season.
One Arsenal target checks that box, and he could now break Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal record – Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres could break Cristiano Ronaldo’s record
Gyokeres is the most prolific striker in the world right now.
The Swede has been unbelievable at Sporting CP. He scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists in his debut campaign there and has already scored 23 times this season.
That is the reason why he is a wanted man, and many clubs including Arsenal have Gyokeres on their transfer shortlist for 2025.
Before he leaves Sporting, Gyokeres could overtake Ronaldo’s highest-ever goal tally in a single calendar year.
The Portuguese superstar’s personal record stands at 69 – he achieved that feat in 2013.
Gyokeres, following his four goals against Azerbaijan in the Nations League, has scored 58 goals for club and country in 2024. That’s more than what the likes of Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe (both 56) have managed in their respective most prolific years.
The Sporting star is scheduled to play eight more games before the end of 2024. If he manages to score 12 times, he will get past Ronaldo’s personal record of 69 goals in a single year, which would be an incredible achievement.

What signing Gyokeres would mean for Arsenal
Arsenal have not had a prolific striker in their squad since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was pushed out of the club in February 2022.
That is arguably the biggest reason why they have not won the Premier League or any other trophy since.
Gyokeres is expected to be available for just £63 million in 2025, which is a very affordable figure in today’s market. Arsenal should be all over that deal.
It is unlikely, but if Arsenal can secure Gyokeres’ services in the January transfer window, we think they will become the favourites to win the Premier League title.
The Gunners could also dream of winning the Champions League with the Swede leading their line, especially if he can come in and hit the ground running.
