Arsenal told one player has now become even more ‘important’ to Mikel Arteta than Bukayo Saka

A number of Arsenal players have impressed in the early exchanges of this season.

Arsenal have made a strong start to the new campaign.

The Gunners remain unbeaten so far this season, and made a statement in the Champions League on Tuesday night by beating PSG 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka provided the goals against the French outfit, and both players were impressive throughout.

Saka delighted Arsenal fans with his display, as he captained Mikel Arteta’s side to victory in the absence of usual skipper Martin Odegaard, who remains sidelined with injury.

Meanwhile, Havertz maintained his remarkable home form. The German has scored in all five games that the Gunners have played at the Emirates Stadium so far this season.

The former Chelsea man has discovered a prolific streak this season, having impressed up front in the second half of last season too.

Darren Bent makes Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka claim

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has been hugely impressed by Havertz this season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “I hold my hands up and say, I thought £65m on Kai Havertz… I said ‘absolutely not’.

“Since then, he’s been given confidence by Mikel Arteta and he has been to the point where there is an argument now he’s Arsenal’s most important player, and that includes Saka in that as well… He has become vital.”

Bent was not the only one to doubt the 25-year-old. Havertz was called the worst signing of the summer by some when he arrived in North London in June 2023.

Havertz did take time to settle at Arsenal, but since he found his feet after being installed as a striker he has gone from strength to strength.

Who is Arsenal’s most important player?

It is incredibly difficult to single out one player as being the most important in Arteta’s squad.

Arguments can be made in favour of not just Havertz and Saka, but Odegaard, William Saliba, and Declan Rice, amongst others.

Far more important than any individual, however, is how Arteta has got all of his players working together as a group. They work as a cohesive unit, and have clearly all bought into the manager’s tactics.
