Arsenal’s recent performance against Crystal Palace highlighted the need for a busy summer of recruitment.

Arsenal fans were furious with Raheem Sterling for his performance against Oliver Glasner’s side and he is one player that is likely to make an Emirates Stadium exit.

Andrea Berta is a fan of Viktor Gyokeres but the Gunners search for a striker is set to be an intriguing one with many names in the frame.

One of those Arsenal striker targets is Benjamin Sesko and the RB Leipzig man has just revealed his footballing idol as someone with a past connection to the Gunners and Arsene Wenger.

Benjamin Sesko reveals football idol is Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, Sesko has revealed that his footballing idol is former Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Sesko stated: “The one guy I looked at the most, of course besides Ronaldo and those guys who were always in the front page lets say was Ibrahimovic, for me this is a role model.”

Arsene Wenger failed to sign Ibrahimovic when he was just 17 years old from Malmo because he asked the former Barcelona man to come on trial at the Gunners.

Ibrahimovic refused that request and subsequently the deal broke down, Sesko is a huge fan of the iconic striker however.

Sesko explained: “This is the guy that I watched, unbelievable, he’s definitely better than me yes but just some situations sometimes I try to copy and he’s always been amazing.”

Benjamin Sesko’s record at RB Leipzig

With a commanding physical presence and excellent ball-striking ability, there are similarities between Sesko and Ibrahimovic.

Arsenal have reservations over signing Sesko due to his lack of experience in the Premier League but his record at RB Leipzig would suggest that he knows where the goal is.

Bundesliga players have not always been able to make the transition into English football as per the likes of Timo Werner but some have made a success, Kai Havertz being one example.

Whoever Berta and Mikel Arteta decide to sign in the number nine position, they need to ensure that they can fit into the Gunners style of play and make an instant impact to a title challenge next season.
