Victor Osimhen to Arsenal transfer update

Mikel Arteta continues to be linked with a move for a striker in the summer transfer window, with several options available.

Benjamin Sesko was linked with Arsenal earlier in the window before penning a new deal at RB Leipzig.

Meanwhile links with a switch for Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal have gone quiet heading into the new season.

There is, however, movement on one target, that being Victor Osimhen.

The Napoli striker has been rumoured with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent months, but rivals Chelsea are making their push to land him.

With the Blues looking to seal a deal, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano discussed Arsenal’s current stance on Osimhen.

Speaking to Caught Offside, he said: “On Chelsea, there is still no major update or change to the Victor Osimhen situation.

“They never left the race, but Osimhen still insists on a permanent transfer and he won’t lower his salary demands.

“I’m also not aware of any negotiation ongoing right now with other clubs, despite some reports in Italy mentioning Arsenal.”

It remains to be seen whether that is the case or not, as the transfer window heads into the final two weeks.

Takehiro Tomiyasu transfer stance

Arsenal are set for a busy end to the transfer window this summer as they look to sign new players and move others on.

Mikel Arteta has already bolstered his defensive options by signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna in a deal worth up to £42million.

However, with the amount of quality the Arsenal boss has to pick from his backline, there may also be room for outgoings.

Jakub Kiwior has been linked with a transfer this summer, while other players have also been rumoured with a deal elsewhere.

There are also questions about Takehiro Tomiyasu, with the defender struggling for minutes over the past year with injury issues.

However, according to Arsenal Insider sources, there is no effort being made by the Gunners to move the versatile star on.

There appears to be an understanding that the Japanese international isn’t a guaranteed starter, but there’s no agitation at this role currently.

Arsenal injury return boost

Arsenal are gearing up for their first match of the new Premier League season as they host Wolves at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s squad are in relatively fine shape, though there have been some injury headaches from pre-season.

The manager confirmed that Takehiro Tomiyasu would be out for a few weeks after suffering a setback in training.

Meanwhile, Jurrien Timber’s foot injury was a shorter-term problem that saw him miss out against Lyon last time out.

Fortunately for the Gunners, the Dutchman was pictured back in training in midweek, coming as a huge boost for the weekend’s action.

Timber missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury he picked up on debut, coming as a blow for the new arrival.

The defender could be something of a fresh signing for the side as he looks to make up for lost time.
