Arteta told £43m Arsenal target is ‘an absolute rocket’ who leaves defenders ‘with nightmares’

Former Real Madrid striker Joselu has hailed his Spanish teammate after reports that Arsenal are interested.

The Gunners are set to spend big this summer, with a deal for Riccardo Calafiori almost close to being completed, as Arsenal also eye a move for Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley.

With an attacker also wanted by Mikel Arteta, the north London side are nowhere near done yet with their summer business, which could easily see last year’s club-record total eclipsed if players are also sold for good prices.

And Arsenal have now been told that one rumoured target could be a dream for Arteta.

Speaking to the Athletic, Spanish international Joselu was full of positive words on his attacking teammate Nico Williams, who is believed to be a target for Arsenal this summer as a wide-forward option.

With a reported release clause worth £43m, Williams has been one of the best players at this summer’s Euros for Spain, who this week face France in a mouth-watering semi-final clash between the two tournament favourites.

And Joselu is clearly a big fan of Williams, with the former Stoke City striker saying about the winger: “When we met him in La Liga last season we already realised he is an absolute rocket of a player.

“In every game against Athletic Bilbao, we analysed him individually, he is so dangerous with the one-on-ones and has now added goalscoring and chance-creating to his game. Nico can leave any full-back in the world with nightmares.”

Williams could be a dream signing for the Gunners this summer

Williams has rightly seen his stock increase massively this summer after a string of impressive performances for Spain at the Euros, with Arsenal, now naturally, interested in the Athletic Club winger.

And given Williams’ age, potential and playing style, the La Liga superstar could be a dream signing for the Gunners if they’re willing to meet the 21-year-old’s wage demands as well as the forward’s release clause.

Indeed, a left-sided winger is needed with Gabriel Martinelli slacking last season, and in Williams, Arsenal could have the dream signing for the positon already sorted if they’re willing to push hard for the attacker.
