A number of Arsenal players over the years have gone into management.

Thierry Henry, Tony Adams, Patrick Vieira and, of course, Mikel Arteta have all tried their hand at management to varying degrees of success.

Meanwhile, Jorginho has been tipped to become a top manager one day.

Going into management is the logical next step for a top-level player, and speaking to Sky Sports, Bukayo Saka has tipped one of his current teammates to go into management in the future.

If you could go back in time and choose a different manager to replace Arsene Wenger in 2018, who would it be and why?

Indeed, according to Saka, David Raya may have a future in football management, claiming that the goalkeeper is so sharp that he would make a very good coach.

In fact, Saka went as far as to claim that Raya has already done his coaching badges.

David Raya tipped to become a top manager

Saka spoke about Raya’s future career prospects.

The Arsenal attacker picked Raya as the player he thinks could be a future manager, noting that he often speaks up in team meetings and has a very good tactical understanding.

“I think I might go David, David Raya. Yeah. He’s very sharp like in his head. He understands um the game very well and you know, in the meetings he’s answering a lot of the questions.

“Yeah, he understands the game very well. And I think he I think if I’m right, he’s done his coaches badges if I’m right. So yeah, I think maybe there might be a future there for him.

Goalkeepers who became football managers

It is quite rare for a goalkeeper to go on and become a top football manager, but Saka seemingly thinks Raya is on that path.

Interestingly, there have been a few goalkeepers-turned-managers over the years who have been very successful.

Dino Zoff almost won a World Cup as Italy manager after a storied playing career in goal.

Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo has had numerous Premier League jobs after being a goalkeeper in his playing days.

Julen Lopetegui was also a goalkeeper before going on to manage the likes of Spain and Real Madrid.

It is rare to see a goalie go into management, but every now and then someone does buck that trend, and who knows? Perhaps Raya could be next.
