Arsenal supporting former Tottenham player Darren Bent has made a shock claim about David Beckham.

Bent has shared some bold opinions on Arsenal since the start of the season, with another coming during the international break.

Several Arsenal players are on international duty in October, with four players called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

After missing out on the September break due to injury, Bukayo Saka is back with the Three Lions, where he’ll be desperate to announce his return in style.

Darren Bent thinks Bukayo Saka is better than David Beckham was

Saka was a talking point on talkSPORT amid the international break, with Bent bringing the Arsenal winger into a playful discussion with Andy Goldstein.

Goldstein stated that David Beckham is the best right-sided midfielder that England has ever produced, a comment which Bent challenged.

“There’s an argument about Becks on the right,” Bent said, and from that moment, Goldstein anticipated that his co-host would mention Saka.

“Go on, who’s better? If you say Saka, I’m walking out,” Goldstein said.

Bent replied, “Saka, I’m taking Saka. Get your coat on the way out.”

Goldstein then questioned how honest the former Tottenham striker was being.

“You don’t believe that, you don’t believe Saka is better than Becks?” Goldstein said, to which Bent responded, “And you don’t believe Becks is better than Wazza [Wayne Rooney].”

Though Saka is so highly rated at Arsenal, Goldstein was not prepared to listen to Bent’s argument, and there’s a good chance that even the Hale End product himself would’ve muted the debate.

Even Saka will be outraged by Bent’s claim

Saka has many Arsenal-related idols, having risen from the academy, but when it comes to his country, the winger is a huge admirer of Beckham.

Despite the superstar status that the 24-year-old has earned, he still finds himself spellbound by some in the game.

In 2022, there was a heartwarming moment that saw Saka ask Beckham for a picture while he was tending to media duties for England.

The Manchester United legend, of course, obliged, in what was a moving scene between the pair.

To be considered as being better than Beckham would undoubtedly stun Saka, who might have something to say about Bent’s statement.
