Eberechi Eze sat down for an interview with Adebayo Akinfenwa, who, as well as being an English football league hero, is a Liverpool fan.

It’s been a dream few months for Eze, who completed a move to his boyhood club in the summer, returning to Arsenal after being released from the academy.

The transfer saga was one of the most memorable ones in Arsenal’s history, as Eze was about to sign for Tottenham before Andrea Berta hijacked the deal.

Now that the playmaker’s dream has become a reality, the hard work is well underway, with the Gunners’ objectives for the 2025/26 season clear to all.

What position suits Eberechi Eze best at Arsenal?

Eze has been blown away by his teammates since making the move from Crystal Palace to Arsenal, but those now on his side aren’t the only ones to impress the 27-year-old.

When speaking to Akinfenwa on the Beast Mode On podcast, Eze shared high praise for Mikel Arteta, dubbing the Arsenal manager ‘incredible’ while applauding the ‘culture’ the Spaniard has implemented.

“It’s a special place to be right now, for sure,” Eze said after setting the scene of what it’s like to play under Arteta.

What came next was funny, as Liverpool-supporting Akinfenwa said, “I hate that by the way.”

Eze laughed at the podcast hosts’ reaction to Arsenal being ‘special’ right now, responding with a cheeky jab.

“Understandable, I’d hate it too if I was you,” he joked.

Akinfenwa loved Eze’s response, as the two shared some banter while alluding to just how good Arsenal have been so far this season.

What Mikel Arteta thought about Eze after his first training session

Eze has been completely won over by Arteta, and the boss feels exactly the same about his player.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website after Eze’s first training session at Colney, Arteta couldn’t resist sharing his delight at working with the former Crystal Palace star.

“I’m really impressed with him. I heard a lot of things about him. I spoke to a lot of people about him. He’s really bright, has very special energy and a special aura around him. He’s really willing,” Arteta said.

“He’s already gathered a lot of information on the things that we want to see on the pitch. But especially, making sure that he has the freedom and the capacity to express his quality, which is the reason why we brought him here.”

Eze’s dream has been realised at Arsenal, but it’s just the beginning for the England international, who is now a fundamental part of the Gunners’ project to deliver major silverware for years to come.
