Arsenal’s meeting in the FA Cup with Manchester United was charged with drama, as the Gunners crashed out of the competition.

It was not Arsenal’s night at the Emirates, as Mikel Arteta watched his side lose to Man United on penalties to exit the FA Cup

Kai Havertz had a night to forget, as did the majority of Arsenal’s attack, as the Gunners could not find a breakthrough despite having a one-man advantage.

Diogo Dalot was sent off in the second half of regular time, giving the hosts the chance to take advantage of the decision of referee Andrew Madley.

FA will not take action for Manchester United’s tweet

The game was filled with drama on an afternoon when VAR was not in use, putting pressure on Madley to get things right the first time.

Man United’s view of the referee’s performance will differ from Arsenal’s, as both sides felt as though calls went the right and wrong way.

Dalot’s sending-off was deemed a bookable offence, resulting in the defender seeing red after already picking up a yellow card.

United fans were not happy with the decision, which was the same story when Arsenal were awarded a penalty for a challenge from Harry Maguire on Havertz.

Martin Odegaard missed the penalty to United’s relief, which was echoed in the club’s media team’s response to the result at full-time.

It’s now been announced that the FA will not take action against the Red Devils for their social media activity after their win.

When posting the score after the penalty shoot-out, United’s media team wrote, “Justice” as the caption for their victory.

The tweet was seen as controversial as the club questioned the decisions of Madley, claiming that justice was served as United did not stumble after the penalty call.

Arsenal also felt an injustice against Man United

While United believed that the penalty awarded to Arsenal was the wrong decision by Madley, the Gunners were also enraged by a different decision.

After the kick was awarded, a brawl broke out between the two squads, with Havertz and Manuel Ugarte at the centre of it.

The two were seen to clash heads in the chaos, resulting in Havertz falling to the ground after being nudged by the forehead of Ugarte.

Arsenal fans believed that Ugarte should have been sent off for his involvement in the squabble, with no clarity shed on the matter since.

To most, the FA not taking action on United is a positive as social media involvement in this instance was rather petulant, with the real focus needing to be on the performance of Madley on the night.
