Gabby Agbonlahor has been discussing how many goals he thinks Viktor Gyokeres will score this season.
It’s been a very good week for the Arsenal striker at long last, as his scoring drought ended with a double against Atletico Madrid.
Gyokeres showed his worth against Atletico, netting his first two Champions League goals for the Gunners to contribute to the big win.
The task now is for the goals to keep flowing, as after scoring 97 times for Sporting CP over two seasons, Arsenal fans want to see more from Gyokeres in front of goal.

Gabby Agbonlahor doesn’t think Viktor Gyokeres will score 20 Premier League goals this season
Many who have watched the new signing believe that the goals will come for Gyokeres once he is more acclimatised to his new surroundings.
With five goals in his first 11 appearances for Arsenal, the numbers are by no means bad, but there’s an expectation that the forward needs to meet.
Micah Richards is convinced Gyokeres will score 21 goals, which is a prediction close to Perry Groves’, who said 20 goals is in the Swede’s reach.
Not everyone agrees, however, as Gabby Agbonlahor discussed Groves’ prediction on talkSPORT.
“Perry Groves there, saying 20 Premier League goals. Will he get 20? I do not think so,” Agbonlahor said.
“He’s got two so far, hasn’t he? In the Premier League. I think it’s going to be tough to get.”
The Aston Villa icon was mistaken, as the 27-year-old has three Premier League goals to his name so far, but still, it’s far below what is needed for him to reach 20.
Gabriel Martinelli thinks Gyokeres could score 40 goals for Arsenal in one season, which is an even greater expectation for his new teammate.

When was the last time Gyokeres scored fewer than 20 goals in the league?
If Agbonlahor’s prediction about Gyokeres is right, then it would mark the first time in a while since the Sweden international failed to hit 20 goals in a single league season.
You’d have to go back to the 2021/22 Championship season to revisit the last time that Gyokeres’ league tally ended below 20.
| Season | Competition | Goals |
| 2024/25 | Liga Portugal | 39 |
| 2023/24 | Liga Portugal | 29 |
| 2022/23 | Championship | 21 |
| 2021/22 | Championship | 17 |
The former Coventry City marksman scored 17 that year, followed by 21 goals the season after, leading him to Sporting, where he netted 68 in 66 Liga Portugal games.
The Premier League is a whole different level from what Gyokeres grew accustomed to in Portugal, but his goalscoring prowess needs little explanation.
For now, Gyokeres will simply hope to add to his tally when Crystal Palace visit on matchday nine.
