‘He’s a winner’… Ben Foster says there is a ‘nasty’ player at Arsenal who he absolutely loves

Arsenal have a number of top-quality players in their side.

Mikel Arteta has built a terrific squad over the last few years, and that has helped the Gunners go toe-to-toe with Manchester City in the Premier League in back-to-back seasons.

As Gooners, we love all of our players, but there are a few in the squad who have admirers beyond the Arsenal fan base as well.

Ben White doesn’t quite fall into that category, but Ben Foster has expressed his love for him nevertheless.

Ben Foster explains why he absolutely loves Arsenal’s Ben White

White is a fan favourite at Arsenal.

The Englishman joined the Gunners from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2021, and although his debut wasn’t great, he has been one of the club’s most consistent performers since.

To add to that, some of White’s antics on the pitch have made him a hero to many Arsenal supporters, who absolutely love him.

The way he tormented goalkeepers during set-pieces in the 2023/24 season was hilarious to watch, but that’s not all.

White is a player who always stands up for his teammates, and against Aston Villa, he had William Saliba’s back when he needed him.

John McGinn fired the ball into Saliba from close range for absolutely no reason. White, who saw that, did the exact same thing to the Aston Villa player.

Arsenal fans absolutely loved that White moment, and it looks like Foster did too.

He said on his podcast: “They are the sort of players you need in your team. You need a Ben White because he’s got a nasty, you need a John McGinn because he’s got a nasty little bit about him.

“But I guarantee you, they would’ve shook hands at full time, they would’ve been absolutely sweet.”

Speaking further about White, Foster said: “I love him, mate, I do. I absolutely love him. He’s got everything about him, he has absolutely everything. He’s a class player. He’s a winner!”

What Martin Odegaard said about Ben White has been proven right

Foster is right, every team needs a player like Ben White.

The Englishman seems a bit reserved in front of the media, but he is absolutely loved by his teammates because he always has their back.

When he signed his new contract earlier in 2024, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe branded White as a ‘warrior’ and they were right.

The Arsenal captain added: “I think when you look at him from the outside you might think he’s someone who doesn’t care too much. But, he is one of the guys who cares the most about the team and about his teammates.”

That has been proven right now after how White defended Saliba following his altercation with McGinn at Villa Park.
