David Raya’s ridiculous double save

Arsenal managed to hold on in a tough test away at Atalanta on Thursday night in the Champions League, with both teams finding it challenging to break the other down.

The Gunners had a few chances, but easily the best fell to the home side when Thomas Partey fouled Ederson in the box to give away a penalty.

Mateo Retegui stepped up to take the spot kick but saw it saved by David Raya before the rebound was brilliantly palmed away by the goalkeeper on the second attempt.

It came moments after the Spaniard was spotted consulting the Arsenal bench about the penalty situation.

How many games Martin Odegaard will miss with Arsenal injury

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury while on international duty with Norway.

It saw the playmaker miss out on the North London Derby with Tottenham as well as the Champions League clash against Atalanta.

Mikel Arteta confirmed Odegaard’s injury was “significant” and he would miss a period of time with a ligament issue.

Tottenham decision could impact William Saliba transfer

Recent reports claimed that Real Madrid have been monitoring a move for one of William Saliba or Cristian Romero in the transfer market.

For Arsenal, it creates a potential challenge in keeping hold of the Frenchman, who has impressed since coming through to the first team setup.

However, it also creates a tough situation for Tottenham, who aren’t competing at the very top at this moment in time.

The decision surrounding which to go for could be made easier for Los Blancos because, according to Fabrizio Romano via CaughtOffside, Spurs are looking to open talks over a new deal for Romero.

“Cristian Romero continues to be an important player for Tottenham,” Romano said. “And so it’s perhaps normal that we’re starting to see rumours about interest from other top clubs, with some fans asking me if there’s anything to the links with Real Madrid.”

While talks haven’t opened yet, it could signal a clear decision that may nudge Real Madrid closer to moving for Saliba instead.
