Arsenal host Burnley in the Premier League tomorrow and Paul Merson has revealed his prediction.

The Gunners have had a lot of positives to take since the turn of the year but results simply haven’t gone our way. We lost against Manchester City even though we were brilliant and we failed to pick up wins over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup and twice against Liverpool in the Carabao cup.

Mikel Arteta will be hoping his side will bounce back tomorrow and Merson believes the Gunners will win the game comfortably.

Paul Merson: Arsenal will beat Burnley on Sunday

In his column on Sportskeeda, the former Gunners star wrote: “This is a big Premier League match for both teams.

“Burnley can’t get a game played at the moment. You look at them and think, “This is the year they go.” With so many games in hand, they’ve got to pick their matches now, and choose fixtures that are winnable.

“This is a bigger game for Arsenal than tonight’s cup game against Liverpool. They’d rather finish fourth in the league than win the cup – that’s just the way football has gone now. If you told them they’d lose 1-0 to Liverpool and beat Burnley, they’d take that all day long.

“Burnley have several problems to deal with at the moment, and I can’t see anything but an Arsenal win here. Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Burnley.”

The Insider’s View:

Burnley have won just twice against Arsenal since the turn of this century. The Gunners will go into the game as the favourites, but the Clarets are never an easy side to face.

However, anything but three points from the game tomorrow is unacceptable.

Even with all our injuries and illnesses, we have enough quality to get the better of Burnley, especially at home.

Arsenal simply have to win the game to keep up the momentum in the top-four race. Third place could also be up for grabs now that Chelsea are struggling. We just can’t mess this up tomorrow and Arteta knows that better than anyone else.
