Arsenal legend Ian Wright would love to see Evan Ferguson join the club.
Arsenal are on the look out for a new striker. Ivan Toney has been heavily linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium. Napoli marksman Victor Osimhen is also considered a target.
A third option on the Gunners’ shortlist is Brighton and Hove Albion’s teenage sensation Evan Ferguson.
The 19-year-old has already managed to make a significant impact in the Premier League in his short career so far. He burst onto the scene at the Amex Stadium last season, netting ten times in all competitions across the course of the campaign.
This term, he already has six strikes under his belt, included a maiden Premier League hat-trick, achieved with a stunning performance against Newcastle United.
All-time leading Premier League goalscorer Alan Shearer believes that Ferguson is a “superstar” in the making.
The ten-cap Republic of Ireland international certainly has all the makings of an elite goalscorer. Blessed with a powerful 6’2” frame, he is a strong physical presence up front, able to hold up possession. He also has the technical ability to bring teammates into play and involve himself in the build-up phase of play, as well as having the pace to threaten with runs in behind the defence.
In front of goal, Ferguson is a lethal finisher, and has already demonstrated development beyond his years with his composure and the tactical intelligence of his movement in and around the box.

Ian Wright desperate to see Evan Ferguson at Arsenal
It is easy to see why Ian Wright is such a fan of the player. The former striker, who scored 185 goals for Arsenal across a seven-year spell with the club, recently admitted that he’d take Ferguson at the Emirates Stadium “in a heartbeat,” speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast.
Mikel Arteta would likely love to see the Brighton wonderkid added to his ranks, too. However, the south coast club know how to drive a hard bargain, and won’t let Ferguson leave for a discounted price. The Seagulls are thought to have already put a £100 million price tag on Ferguson, recognising his enormous potential.
In the context of Brighton’s demands, Arsenal would need to think very carefully before making a serious effort to sign the player. Such a move would represent an enormous gamble on Ferguson being able to live up to the expectations others have of him. There are no guarantees that he will be able to do so. With the Gunners now genuine title contenders, a more proven and reliable option may well be preferable.
