The decision-makers at Arsenal have made some big mistakes recently.

Mikel Arteta has proven his class at the Emirates year after year. Arsenal have improved on their points tally every season under the Spaniard, and that was likely to happen again this time.

However, following the defeat to West Ham United, Arsenal will not improve on their points tally from last season, which is a real shame.

Blaming Arteta would be a disgrace – the real culprits are the owners Stan and Josh Kroenke, and the board.

Ian Wright slams Arsenal board for ‘terrible decisions’

Arsenal’s dreams of winning the Premier League all but ended after the loss against West Ham United on Saturday.

The gap between Liverpool and the Gunners is up to 11 points now, which just feels like it’s way too much even though the Londoners have a game in hand.

Arteta is doing all he can despite the crazy number of injuries at Arsenal this season, and the Gunners boss deserves enormous credit for that.

The ones who let him down were the Arsenal board – even though Arteta publicly issued a plea for a new attacker during the January transfer window.

Ian Wright has rightly pointed out that the decision-makers at the club have failed to bring in a striker at Arsenal in each of the last five windows. That is unacceptable!

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, the Arsenal legend said: “We can’t ignore the fact that, as much as people might be tired of hearing the talk of a striker, it’s no secret we’ve needed a striker for three years. We missed five windows where we haven’t had a striker.

“I heard an interview with Mikel from January, where he was talking about ‘yes, we will try and get somebody if that person fits in’.

“We’re talking about a global market for Arsenal to shop in and for us to not, especially after Saka, especially after Jesus, to still not add to a squad that’s clinging on by their fingernails to a Liverpool side that look like they’re coasting, getting ready to put into fifth gear, to hold on to them with everything that’s happened… For me, from the board, it’s terrible, terrible business.”

There’s only one way Arsenal’s board can make up to Mikel Arteta

It was clear to everyone in the world that Arsenal needed a new attacker in January.

Bukayo Saka was already out with a long-term injury, while Gabriel Jesus ruptured his ACL and had been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Arsenal’s board decided against backing Arteta, and Kai Havertz suffered a season-ending injury less than a month later. That has cost Arsenal the title.

Since then, Arsenal fans have been worried that Arteta will walk away because the decision-makers at the club are not matching his ambitions.

To prove that they do, the Arsenal board have to back Arteta in the summer – we think funding a move for Alexander Isak would be the best way to make up for their terrible decisions in January.
