Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has opened up about his career in a fresh interview.

The Poland international joined Mikel Arteta’s project in January 2023, arriving from Serie A side Spezia.

Kiwior’s Arsenal career has been memorable for mixed reasons as the defender has been called into action more than some would have anticipated.

Despite being trusted by Arteta, Kiwior has received criticism for a number of performances this season, with his future very much uncertain.

Jakub Kiwior makes Jorginho claim

Kiwior has been linked with a transfer ahead of the January window, with a return to Serie A looking most likely at this moment.

Juventus and Napoli are eager to sign Kiwior, whose contract at the Emirates runs until 2028.

For now, the versatile defender remains solely focused on the task ahead of him at Arsenal, taking the time to reflect on his career so far in an interview.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, the Poland international was quizzed about how his future could look beyond his playing days, with the prospect of coaching discussed.

“I haven’t done any coaching qualifications yet, I’m not really interested in that at the moment while I’m still playing, but it’s something I could do later in my career,” Kiwior said.

The 24-year-old admitted that coaching is not in his thoughts right now however, some players in the Arsenal squad have a different stance.

“I’m concentrating on playing now, but I know some players do it early – Jorginho is doing his qualifications. I’ve spoken to him about it, because he is enjoying it. He really lives football.”

Kiwior shared that very few live for football more than Jorginho, which comes as little surprise given the Italian’s dedication to the game since arriving from Chelsea.

Jorginho’s future at Arsenal is uncertain

The Poland international’s view of the midfielder is similar to his teammates, as Ben White backed Jorginho to become a manager one day.

Being an incredibly composed and experienced professional, Arteta is lucky to have a figure like the Champions League winner in the current squad, but how long will it last?

Jorginho has been linked with a transfer as his contract at the Emirates expires in the summer, with Besiktas one of the clubs hoping to sign the Italian.

Arsenal are unwilling to part ways with Jorginho in January due to the value he brings to the team, being an influence despite rarely featuring on the pitch.

The 32-year-old is highly regarded at Colney as seen by several of his teammates who value his leadership qualities enough to imagine the midfielder in a coaching role.
