Arsenal are preparing to welcome PSG to North London in the Champions League semi-final.

Mikel Arteta’s side secured the club’s first Champions League semi-final appearance since 2009 with a sensational victory over Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.

PSG have complained to UEFA over their ticket allocation for the first leg at the Emirates Stadium and their preparations for the clash have taken a huge blow.

The French media are ‘worried’ about their form heading into the game as PSG lost their unbeaten domestic record at home to Nice. Arsenal can be confident of trying to repeat a historic night in Spain from 2006.

What Jens Lehmann thought before he saved Juan Roman Riquelme penalty

Jens Lehmann broke a Champions League record during the Gunners run to the Champions League final in 2006.

His remarkable 853 minutes without conceding a goal came under threat in the dying moments of the semi-final clash against Villareal.

With Arsene Wenger’s side leading 1-0, Villareal were awarded a penalty which Lehmann guessed correctly and saved Juan Roman Riquelme’s effort to send Arsenal to their first ever final in the competition.

Speaking to ITV Sports after the game, the German keeper revealed what he was really thinking before the historic moment.

Lehmann stated: “Well I was thinking about his right corner about a week ago so I decided to go there because I just considered well if he’s had penalties there well there I should go.”

The Gunners went on to lose the final 2-1 in Paris to Barcelona but Arteta’s side will be hoping they can go one better this campaign.

Jens Lehmann’s Arsenal career

Lehmann never liked Manuel Almunia during his time in North London according to another former Gunners goalkeeper David Seaman.

The German also used to frequently argue with Thierry Henry but nobody could doubt Lehmann’s mentality to win and be the best he could be.

Wenger asked Lehmann out of retirement to add to those 200 appearances but the German declined the offer.

He goes down as one of Arsenal’s greatest ever goalkeepers and has his name etched in history by producing moments such as the Riquelme penalty save.
